Hold Me Down is about letting go of the past and finding and following a new direction in life. It captures the moment when I realised I didn't need to be scared of the unknown that lies ahead and should be excited to move forward.

MEET BEN HARRIS
Originally from England, Ben’s family moved to Sydney when he was just seven years old. That’s when he started playing bass guitar. Music remained his loyal companion throughout his school years after which he headed to JMC Academy. There he studied Contemporary Music Performance and Songwriting under the watchful eye of
Already, Ben has played live support shows to Australian music legends including Richard Clapton, Alex Lloyd and The Radiators. Music is all Ben wants to do. In his words: “Music is my drug. I’m really just a very normal 20-something guy, which makes me a little different I guess… that and my collection of crazy socks.”
Ben released a couple of self-recorded singles before recording his debut EP ‘Homesick’ at Sydney’s Kiln Studios where artists like Lime Cordiale, Jessica Mauboy and Idris Elba have recorded before him. His singles ‘Hold Me Down’, ‘Never Gonna Make It’ and ‘Won’t Go Back’ have received critical acclaim from industry insiders and reviewers alike.

LATEST TRACKS
As a composer, Ben writes songs that tend to represent the life stage he’s at. If you follow them in chronological order by composition date, they almost map out his life. Ben also writes about the world as he sees it, in particular with regard his passion for protecting this planet on which we all live. Inspired in the main by the Damon Gameau documentary '2040', Ben sends out his own environmental ‘call to arms’ through his songs.
This is about shutting down the haters. I've had a lot of negativity sent my way since starting my music journey, so this song's about perseverance and not listening to the people who try to bring you down to their level. My advice... surround yourself with people you can count on for support.
This song represents the start of a new phase in Ben’s life… the next in his ‘timeline’ to that point if you like. “I wrote this when I had just started at JMC Academy and finally felt like I had a path to follow. It’s about moving forward and not dwelling on the past, with a nod to previous relationships too.”
